As part of the statewide 2008 VOTE (Voter Outreach Through Education) campaign effort, the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections is partnering with area high schools, University of Florida, Santa Fe Community College and Job Corps in the "Register at School" campaign during the month of April.
April 14th through April 29th, the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office will be visiting area educational institutions, high school seniors and other students on the importance of voting, registering them to vote, and recruiting them to work at the polls on Election Day. Students will also learn about the electoral process and participate in hands on demonstrations with the actual voting equipment used in Alachua County.
"It is critical for our future voters to understand the impact their one vote can have. Our democratic process is strengthened through participation and as voters, it is our responsibility to participate", said Pam Carpenter, Alachua County Supervisor of Elections.
